Volunteers Make It Happen

Trainfest is run entirely by volunteers. Volunteering is a whole lot of fun and gives you a chance to participate in your hobby in a dynamic way: build camaraderie, engage with others who are interested in the same things as you and show support the National Model Railroad Association, your division or club.

Hats off to the Milwaukee Lionel Railroad Club whose members have been volunteering  at Trainfest since 1972 and will be back again this year proudly helping out in the kids area and showing off their layouts.

The nonprofit organization will bring four different, highly detailed  layouts for all ages to operate. And for those just watching, from lights to a newspaper boy with a dog running around a fire hydrant, there will be a lot to look at. The club will also run a raffle this year. Attendees can  enter for a chance to win a beautiful train scene on a furniture quality oak stained table.

According to Club President David Rohr, club members wouldn’t miss Trainfest. The event wouldn’t be as great as it is for them if it weren’t for joy they get seeing smiles of thousands.

The club meets regularly at its clubhouse in New Berlin.

Anyone can volunteer at Trainfest; think about how to use your volunteer time as a PR opp for your club or organization. Wear your official club shirt and tell people about all the great work you do. Use this as an opportunity to build awareness and promote your organization. Interested in volunteering?
