Kid’s Activities at Trainfest 2012

New Kids Activity Zone

This year, Trainfest created a dedicated area for kids activities called the Kids’ Activity Zone. The new Kid’s Activity Zone was a roaring success with 8,326 kids dancing, playing, and enjoying all model railroading has to offer!

NEW Kids’ Activities include:

Choo Choo Bob and the Holy Smokestacks Revue

• Choo Choo Bob and the Holy Smokestacks Revue kids’ concert series, Click Here to learn more. Choo Choo Bob appearances are sponsored by Walthers Model Trains, a family-owned company serving model railroading since 1932.
• Train-themed story times with Choo Choo Bob Engineers.
• A giant Thomas the Tank Engine® inflatable bounce house.
• 8’ long wooden train tables for kids to play with.
• A beginners’ clinic for kids and parents learning how to get started on a model railroad. Click HERE to learn more.

Returning kid’s favorites include:

• Face painting and Trainfest temporary tattoos
• Craft – this year is Wiki stix, and coloring with crayons
• Radio Disney on Sunday from 12:30-2pm
• Race trains on a dog-bone shaped track, sponsored by the Midwest Division of the Train Collectors Association
• LEGO® build and play area sponsored by the American Institute of Architects.

And, the fun doesn’t stop there… Explore nearly four football fields full of model railroads, big and small!

Also returning this year is the “4 at 4” Station Stop game on Saturday. Four lucky winners will take home starter train sets complements of Bachmann Trains.

How to play: pick up a game card at the Trainfest office, visit 10 station stop locations and drop your completed game card in the drum at the show office by 3:30pm to be included in the drawing Saturday at 4:00pm.

Hey kids. Below are photos taken at Trainfest. You can see lots of kids having fun looking at huge model railroads. Some have tiny trains (we call them Z Scale) and they go up in size to the kind that run outdoors usually in gardens (those are called G Scale). All have different scenes. There is even real smoke coming out of some of the engines. How cool…
