The Trainfest Experience

For two days every November, over 21,000 modelers, families and the locomotively curious converge at Trainfest. Why you ask? Well, prepare to be astonished. In 200,000 square feet, you will enjoy more than 50 super detailed, highly creative scenic layouts that deliver a lasting impression. And, you have to see them to believe them! That’s why Trainfest continues to be America’s Largest Operating Model Railroad Show celebrating it's 39th year.

There is an enthusiasm that travels throughout Trainfest. For two days adults become kids, kids become hobbyists, and hobbyists become kids… In a way, we envy those of you that will be attending Trainfest for the first time, but we’re grateful for the vicarious discovery you’ll give us.

It’s in the imaginations of all these “kids,” as they stare at the vast countrysides of Styrofoam and plastic, where these layouts truly come to life. Many of us were introduced to model trains when we were kids and immediately were hooked. That’s why we have kid-friendly activities, so that families know how important their presence at Trainfest truly is. Part of our mission is not only to support today’s hobby of model railroading, but also to inspire the hobbyists of tomorrow.

And whether you’re looking to expand your layout or just beginning with the hobby, Trainfest is host to 130 manufacturers and hobby dealers showcasing the latest products and offering many great deals. They come from all over the country and are ready to share the best tips in the industry.
